Meet Our Teachers

Laurene loves being the owner and lead teacher of Brilliant Bloomers Nursery School because her passion is teaching preschool.  She graduated Phi Beta Kappa, cum laude from Rhodes College in Memphis, TN in 1998 with a bachelor of science, double major in Biology and Spanish.  Her plan was to get her PhD in Neurolinguistics, but after working for a year as a research assistant in a neurology lab, she realized that what she really wanted was to teach children.

Laurene received a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology in 2001 and began her career as a pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist in California, where she taught a language-intensive pre-K/Kindergarten class 5 mornings per week.  Teaching soon became Laurene's passion and she continued to teach pre-K for 4 1/2 years until deciding to be a stay-at-home mom.  Laurene loved being a stay-at-home mom to her two girls, but missed teaching.  So, after moving to Wells in 2010, she created and taught the Talkin' Toddlers program through the Wells Parks and Rec (2011-2012).  Laurene then set her heart on starting her own preschool and opened the doors of Brilliant Bloomers in 2013!  She feels that her advanced degree in child development, her extensive experience as both a preschool teacher and as a pediatric speech therapist, along with her love of artistic expression, have made her exceptionally qualified to help our Brilliant students Bloom!
